Privacy Policy
How Knecto collects, uses, and protects information when you read our guides, try a free tool, or subscribe for updates.
We collect the minimum needed to run Knecto: basic analytics on how the site is used, your email address only if you subscribe, and standard cookies for ads and site function. We never sell your personal information. You can ask us to access or delete your data at any time — see “Your Privacy Rights” below.
What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how Knecto (“Knecto,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), the publisher of knecto.xyz, collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when you visit our site, read our guides, use one of our free tools, or subscribe to our newsletter (together, the “Services”).
By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Services. This policy is written to be read alongside our Terms of Service and Cookie Policy.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly
- Newsletter sign-up: your email address, when you choose to subscribe.
- Free tool inputs: any values you type into a calculator, checklist, or quiz on Knecto (for example, a rough task-time estimate). We use this only to generate the on-screen result. We do not require an account to use our tools.
- Correspondence: anything you send us directly, such as an email, including your address and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically
- IP address and approximate location (typically city or country level).
- Browser type and version, device type, and operating system.
- Pages viewed, time spent on a page, referring and exit pages, and click patterns.
- Date and time of your visit.
This information is collected through server logs, cookies, and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy for the full list of cookies we use and how to control them.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the guides and free tools on Knecto.
- Send the newsletter you opted into, and let you unsubscribe at any time.
- Understand which guides and tools are useful, using aggregated, anonymized analytics.
- Show relevant advertising that helps fund free access to our content, where advertising is enabled on the site.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity, and keep the site secure.
- Comply with legal obligations.
Cookies & advertising
Knecto and third-party vendors, including Google, use first-party and third-party cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites, and to measure how those ads perform.
Where Google advertising products are active on this site (for example, Google AdSense), Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to Knecto and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a participating third-party vendor’s use of cookies for interest-based advertising by visiting aboutads.info.
For a full breakdown of the categories of cookies we use, their purpose, and how to manage them in your browser, see our dedicated Cookie Policy.
If you’re visiting from the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, we show a consent banner before any non-essential cookies or ad personalization occurs, using a consent management platform certified under the IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF). You can change your choices at any time by reopening that banner.
Third-party services we use
We rely on trusted third parties to run Knecto. Each processes data under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review:
- Analytics providers (such as Google Analytics), to understand traffic and site performance in aggregate.
- Advertising providers (such as Google AdSense), to display ads that support free access to our guides.
- Email delivery provider, to send the newsletter you subscribed to.
- Hosting and content-delivery providers, to serve the site reliably and securely.
We do not control these providers’ independent use of your data once it leaves our systems, beyond the instructions and limitations we place on them as our processors.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only in these circumstances:
- With advertising partners, including Google, who use cookies to serve interest-based ads. Under California’s CCPA/CPRA, this counts as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, even though no money changes hands. See your opt-out options below.
- With service providers listed above, under obligations to protect your data and use it only to perform services for us.
- If required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of Knecto, our users, or the public.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
Your opt-out options
If you’re a California resident, you can opt out of this sharing at any time by emailing privacy@knecto.xyz with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.” We also recognize the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out request and will treat it accordingly.
Your privacy rights
If you’re in the EU, EEA, or UK (GDPR / UK GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict our use of your personal data, to receive a portable copy of it, to object to certain processing (including for direct marketing), and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you’re a California resident (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to request its deletion or correction, to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (we don’t sell personal information for money, but we do share certain data with advertising partners as described in “How we share information” below), and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. See “Your opt-out options” below for how to exercise this.
How to exercise these rights
Email us at privacy@knecto.xyz with your request. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to these signals yet, our site does not currently change its behavior when it receives one.
Retention & security
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
Knecto is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
International data transfers
Knecto and the third-party providers we use may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as standard contractual clauses — to protect information transferred internationally.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above when we do. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
